Russia Proposes Harsh Penalties for Unregistered Crypto Services
Russia's government has escalated its crackdown on unregulated cryptocurrency activities with a new bill submitted to the State Duma. The legislation introduces severe criminal penalties, including up to seven years imprisonment for organized illegal crypto operations and fines reaching $4,000 for individuals.
The move signals Moscow's determination to bring the crypto sector under state control. While the Supreme Court has called the measures premature, the government appears intent on establishing authority over digital asset circulation ahead of anticipated framework legislation in July.
